High End Audio Frequently asked questions

Resolved Question: AUDIOPHILES - the RAREST of the RARE Speakers?

I have a few pairs of Rare Speakers - the A/D/S L1230's - the Speakerlab K-Horns and the Most Rare of every, the Apogee Centaur Majors. I am mainly referring to the ADS and the Apogees - I am a big seller on eBay, and I research my stuff before selling. My problem is that I dont look these enough on eBay - and I dont want to risk getting to low of an amount for these Rare Speakers (I do Auction only - i dont like BuyItNow) Anyways, I need to know if anyone knows of a place to sell very rare speakers. I have checked the ADS numerous times, and ive only seen them once or twice, but the buyers were asking too much and didnt receive it. They wanted 1500 but really they are only worth about 1000. And i have NEVER seen the Apogees on there. I have seen the centaur minors a few times, but never the majors - they are EXTREMELY rare I need to sell these, but the problem is most people never heard of these, and i need to find a place where serious bidders are considering. Maybe there is a site for high end Audio Equipment ?? Does anyone know? I have looked around but ive arrive up with nothing, and like i said i dont want to use ebay because they arent ever on there so who would be looking for them ya know? every the equipment is in close Mint - and I have a lot of other high end stuff like receivers and so on... so any help would be huge

Voting Question: Is it possible to hook up these speakers on my shelf system?

I have a shelf stereo system that uses the higher end style of hooking up speakers where the bare copper wire gets crimped/clipped into the stereo. I would like to use some older left over speakers with it. The speakers I want to use have the cheaper/low end style where you actually plug them into the back of the speaker. The plug looks just like the audio video plugs that you would use to hook up a camcorder to a VCR. Is it possible to clip off these plugs and strip the wires and plug them into my stereo? Thanks!

Voting Question: Help me with purchasing a Desktop PC for gaming, please.?

Well, i really need your help Yahoo Users. This is the computer i'm looking at http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/HP-Pavilion-a6554f-Desktop-PC-FJ464AA-ABA/sem/rpsm/oid/213650/catOid/-12962/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do . It looks nice, but I am not sure exactly what some of the spec's mean. I'm fairly certain that this- This desktop features 5GB of advanced DDR2 system memory—enough for the most demanding users, gamers and multimedia professionals -means the ammout of SDRAM Memory, 5GB's seems very good. Also- The major queston I have is what is its Video Card? I want to play games like Bio-Shock, Team Fortress 2, Oblivion, and Halo... mabee, but I need to know if the Video Card it has is good enough. I have no idea what this means- High-end audio/video capability: This desktop features Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 with 128MB dedicated graphics memory, and up to 287MB Total Available Graphics Memory. This video memory is perfect for movie watching or gaming. Support for eight-speaker audio lets you connect a great surround sound system. -is that the Video Card? "287MB Total Available Graphics Memory"? whats that? I know about the NVideia seris and how they name there Video cards... but i have never seen this before... if you could compare the Video Card to an Nvidea card that would be wonderful, Thanks You Very Much! if you need to you can email me at hienz10@yahoo.com Ok again, THANKS!!!

Resolved Question: I need help on Dead Space.?

On Chapter 6, the Environmental Hazard Chapter. Im in the Air Infiltration chamber, where it has those halls that have flame shoot through them at high speeds. It has an elevator that goes down with an Audio Log close it. There's three doors on each end of the hallway that won't open on the lower floor with the flame tunnels. How do I open them? My pal at school told me to shoot a certain little chip or "light" close the door. I found a chip with blue wiring coming out of it. I tried shooting it and nothing happened. Anybody able to help me?

Resolved Question: Which cheap microphone should I use for vocals and ukulele?

I am just learning a bit about how to play the uke and how to work audio specific programs. I have been using Vegas for a while and I am quite familiar with multi-track recording, but every this microphone, home studio stuff is pretty new to me. I'll be doing vocals recording later after building a mini-sound booth for myself out of a hoola hoop (or two) and some foam (likely with a vinyl outer shell. However, the microphone selection around here is awful. There are some cheap 'line in' microphones and a handful of Philips karaoke mic's and knockoffs, but between the needy selection and much of the details being written in Chinese, it's tough to make a choice. Many have recommended a Logitech USB mic, but I have been to 17 stores and not found a single USB mic by anyone. every plug into a line in jack with a 3.5mm end. What characteristics should I be looking for? What brands could you recommend? I am not looking for ultra-high quality, just average or slightly better. I gave this a try already by purchasing a tiny and cheap clip-on mic that is very tiny. I put it in the sound hole and clipped to the side of the hole with the wire out of the way. The mic does not bang against the sides, but I find the quality needy. Additionally the mic doesn't have much dynamic range, so from soft picking to difficult strumming, I bang against the ceiling quite easily. I am currently learning its limits and trying to play within them. Ideally, I'd like to move the mic outside of the instrument since it will likely sound better there, but I couldn't think of a better way to really clip out ambient noise (quite a bit of that here 24/7) and have the mic hear carefully to the instrument. For now, I am not actually singing, just working on getting good quality recording straight from the instrument. I will overlay vocals later. I am using audacity and have Kristal recorder as well. I don't much care for either, but Audacity is enough for now. Well, that's a great answer for a mid-priced or expensive microphone. Yeah, I have known for a long time that Shure are good mic's. Around here, they cost around 5 times more than what I was hoping to pay though... I have such a difficult time believing that it would be necessary. I'm looking for something to record myself in a mini-studio. True, I may end up getting a Shure, but I am currently looking for OTHER options, you know, CHEAP options. There is a significant premium with Shure for the casing and the name. Neither of which I would like to pay. I'd rather put that money into another instrument. This is just something for practicing and maybe sharing some stuff with my family overseas. I'm not looking to receive into the industry. Oh and btw, where I live, people buy things new. There is virtually no second hand market for anything. I live in Taiwan. With a population of 23 million in an area the size of vancouver island, the second hand market here isn't even close to that of Victoria with a population of 350,000.

Voting Question: Video stuttering every 5 or so minutes?

hey, i have a brand new gateway p7811fx gaming laptop and a few days ago i decided to sift through it so that i could delete certain files that weren't needed for obvious reasons. anyways, now, whenever i watch movies in any nice of player, online, offline, whatever, almost the exact same thing will happen. every 5 minutes or so the screen will lag for maybe 2 seconds, sometimes more sometimes less depending on my power settings and the video quality. after it lags the audio is occasionally much further ahead than the video, but it will also sometimes end up glitching up along with the video. the computer is easily quick enough to run a video file with beyond perfect ease, but for the life of me i cannot figure out why it is doing this. was it something i deleted, and if so, where can i re-download it/how can i install it/what file is it, or if its a setting or whatever, i really need to know how to fix it :/ system specs: MODEL :gateway p-7811FX PROCESSOR :Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26 GHz/2.27 GHz processor RAM :4.00 GB RAM OPERATING SYSTEM :64-bit OS VIDEO CARD :NVIDIA GeForce9800M GTS AUDIO :NVIDIA HDMI Audio/Contextant High Definition SmartAudio 221 (not sure which one its using currently but if i switch between them it won't make a difference) so anybody think they might know whats the dealio? please answer asap i really want things back to normal :/ thanks ^^

Resolved Question: Would this work? Audio/Video Question?

I'm thinking of experimenting with something, I don't think it will work though. Give me your opinions. Getting an RCA Video cable, cutting it in half and exposing the wires inside, then plugging the male end to a TV output. Then getting an audio cord and cutting that in half and exposing the wires, and plugging the male end into the microphone jack of my laptop. Then tying the video and audio wires together and seeing if I can record a video signal as an audio file in the computer. Why? I want to look if I can record the signal as a high quality wave file. I'm expecting it will just sound like a whole lot of buzzing. Then plug the audio cord into the headphone jack, and plug the video cord into the TV input and look if playing the sound translates back into a picture. My theory is that the video signal will travel through the video cord, and hopefully the same video signal will travel through the audio cord and be recorded in audio format. Then I'm thinking if I play that sound back through the cables, it will send an almost identical signal back up the audio cord and through the video cord back to the TV and end up with a picture close enough to the original. Could be a great way to record video on a computer that doesn't have a video card, and could also be a good way to hide important videos or pictures such as secret messages or something. I don't know, just thought it'd be interesting to try. But before I go buying an RCA video cable and snipping it in half, does anyone think it will even work?

Resolved Question: MacBook Pro: 2.4GHz vs 2.5GHz vs 2.6GHz (plus other small details)...?

I'm about to buy a MacBook Pro. I will primarily be using it for running Logic Pro. I record most of my audio to an external Firewire steer. Like anyone else, I'm interested in saving as much money as possible, but seeing as how I'm going to have this machine for the next few years, I want to purchase one that's going to age gracefully. I've been looking at a 2.4GHz model, tweaked to include a 200Gb 7200rpm internal steer + 4Gb RAM, but notice that I can receive a refurbished standard configuration 2.5GHz machine (250Gb steer @ 5400rpm + 2Gb RAM) for about $115 less. Am I better off with the entry-level 2.4GHz machine, beefed up with the extra RAM & higher-performance steer, or with the nicer video card, extra 50Gb storage capacity & less RAM offered by the slightly higher-end, refurbished 2.5GHz model? ...or should I just wait & look what changes Apple is going to introduce to the line in the next few months (if any)?

Voting Question: Has anyone ever used a high amp resetable breaker for battery protection, how high in amps was it ?

They sell realy good quality resetable high amp breakers - more for audio than anything else. I want to mount one of these to the side of the battery box, because I'm relocating the battery to the trunk. I want there to be no chance of a possible short circuit to ground in the event of an accident. The possitive cable runs through the trunk floor, and just over the gas tank. If I can install a circuit breaker very close to the battery leads coming off of the battery, it will protect me if the hot cables receive shorted when they receive clip up in a rear end collision.

Resolved Question: what do you think about the new 2010 ford car features?

What do you think about the new features, Do you think its better, worse, ?????? DETROIT - So you think junior is a little too guide-footed when he drives the family car? Starting next year, Ford Motor Co. will give you the power to do something about it. The company will roll out a new feature on many 2010 models that can limit teen drivers to 80 mph, using a computer chip in the key. Parents also have the option of programming the teen's key to limit the audio system's volume, and to sound continuous alerts if the driver doesn't wear a seat belt. "Our message to parents is, hey, we are providing you some conditions to give your new drivers that may allow you to feel a little more comfortable in giving them the car more often," said Jim Buczkowski, Ford's director of electronic and electrical systems engineering. The feature, called "MyKey," will be standard on an unspecified number of Ford models when the 2010 cars and trucks arrive out tardy next summer. The feature will spread to the entire Ford, Lincoln and Mercury lineup as models are updated, spokesman Wes Sherwood said. Ford arrived at the 80 mph limit even though freeway speed limits are lower in most states because it wanted to leave a margin in case an unusual situation arises, Buczkowski said. In some states, freeway speed limits are over 70 mph, Sherwood said. "Just lopping it off at exactly 70 mph was felt to be too limiting," Buczkowski said. The company already uses computer chips in its keys to prevent thefts. The car won't start unless it recognizes the chip in the key. "It's making use of existing technology, and through the magic of software, we're able to build features on top of the features we already have," Buczkowski said. In addition to speed limits, MyKey also will limit the volume of the audio system, and it will sound a six-second chime every minute if seat belts are not fastened. The chime sounds for adult drivers, too, but ends after five minutes to avoid annoying adults who adamantly don't want to wear seat belts, Buczkowski said. Parents also have the option of having the car sound a chime if the teen exceeds 45, 55 or 65 mph. The feature will debut on the 2010 Focus compact car and quickly move to other company models as a standard feature, the company said. Ford said its market research shows 75 percent of parents like the speed and audio limits, but as you might expect, 67 percent of teens don't like them. Danisha Williams, a 16-year-old senior at Southfield-Lathrup High School in suburban Detroit, said she's against the idea. "I wouldn't want my parents to have that much control over how I'm driving," she said. "If your parents are holding your hand, you're never going to learn." Brittany Hawthorne, 17, another Southfield-Lathrup senior, said there may be emergency situations where she'd have to steer more than 80, possibly to accelerate to avoid a accident. Ford's research shows that parents would be more likely to let teens use their vehicles with the system, Sherwood said, and if it gets them the car more often, the number of teens objecting drops by nearly half. A top official from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a research group funded by the car insurance industry that is pushing to lift the minimum driving age to 17 or 18, found the key intriguing and said she was not aware of any other manufacturer offering such a feature. IIHS says car crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers. "Research we've done has shown that speeding is a major factor in teen crashes, especially novice teen drivers," said Anne McCartt, the institute's senior vice president for research. "So I think a system that tries to correct the speeding behavior has the potential to improve safety." More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16-year-old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Several U.S. car insurers have begun offering in-car cameras or global positioning equipment to help parents monitor their teens' driving behavior, in the wish of reducing the number of crashes.

Resolved Question: Is Obama the Anti-Christ? I have the answer!!!?

People have been running around, and fretting over whether Obama is or is not the Anti-Christ. You may now be at ease my dear friends, because I have developed a system to put an end to every speculation! Your anit-Messiah checklist is at hand. Handy-Dandy-Anti-Christ checklist: 1. Worshippers. 2. Priest/Priestess 3. A Temple 4. Supernatural power Let's examine data, and look if Obama meets this Anti-Christ criteria. 1. Worshippers-yes We have seen them. They scream. They sob. They write songs for him. They mindlessly repeat his speeches ("Yes We Can" reference). They are without a doubt his worshipers. Here is audio from an Obama worship service http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO_eE21r8r4 2. Priest/Priestess - Yes This is obvious. We every know Oprah is his high priestess. However, what most people don't know is that Obama has more priestesses as well, including actress Halley Berry. With this comment, Obama will without a doubt promote her from being a mere worshiper to priestess, "I'll do whatever he says to do. I'll collect paper cups off the ground to make his pathway clear." 3. A Temple - Yes http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/08/021336.php 4. Supernatural power - Yes Obama loves to use his mind controlling powers to make simpleminded women faint at distances several feet away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndl57E7UJno He also has the ability to recall speeches made from different people and to repeat them at will years later. For example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vACOtmwckGc I’ve wish this test cleared up any uncertainty. PaperCut, Spend some more time in the Joke section. Maybe then you will receive a sense of humor. This was obviously a joke. You either didn't read it, or do not understand sarcasm, dude ;)

Voting Question: How To Install 5.1 Home Entertainment System?

i understand that the red and white audio jacks run from my tv to my subwoofer, and the sub works fine, however, the wires running from my speakers to the sub start to receive complicated. The speaker wires have a jack on one end that go to the speaker, on the other end, the wire is split into two wire exposed ends. On the back of the sub there is HIGH LEVEL IN, with four plugs for the exposed wires (two black, two red). Also on the back is HIGH LEVEL OUT consisting of the same plugs. Since i have the right number of wires and accessories, i do not find a need for a receiver, am i wrong or right on this assumption? A clear explanation on the reason why the speakers are not working would be greatly appreciated.

Resolved Question: HDMI interconnects: what are the advantages & disadvantages vs. component video vs. composite video?

HDMI are the newest entry into the arena of high-end A/V equipment. They look like USB-interfaces on your computers & allow for simultaneouos transmission of both audio & video signals between your A/V hardware. However, doesn't this increase the potential for cross-channel interference? How does the audio & video fidelity compare against component video + separate audio interconnection vs. composite video + separate audio interconnection?

Open Question: Burning Audio CDs with CD Player - Music Quality Variation?

I noticed that some music CDs I made have a little static in some of the songs at the end of the disk. After much troubleshooting I found that it depended upon the nice of disc I used, I had been making music CDs using a disk that said "TDK Music CD-R 80min 700mb", I made lots of great high quality recordings, when I switched to using "TDK CD-R 80min 700mb" the music on these disks have static. I thought having the word "music" on the disc was just marketing and that other CD-R disks that don't mention the word music could be used to make audio CDs. I was trying to keep a couple of dollars and now I have 98 blank disks probably only good for making data disks only. What is the best brand of CD-R disk to use for my audio CDs and for keeping my data safe? Is it true that the word "music" on a CD denotes some extra manufacturing steps in making of the disk or is it just a marketing ploy and every CD-R disks are the same?

Voting Question: I am having trouble playing many of my DVDs in different DVD players?

A few months ago, I tried to play a few different DVDs in my DVD player. Some that I tried were my possess, others were from Netflix. For each one that I tried, my DVD player failed to read the disc and displayed "No Disc." I figured my fairly cheap DVD player had simply reached the end of its life. So I just bought a high quality home theater with a DVD player and the same exact thing is happening: it won't read any of my DVDs, nor will it read Netflix DVDs. However, it reads Audio CDs just fine. I feel as though it would be too big of a coincidence for me to have simply purchased a defective new home theater after what happened with my previous DVD player (which was not even very old and had never given me problems before I moved into my home last September). Could every the DVDs that enter my home become demagnetized or something? Any help is greatly appreciated, as I am completely befuddled and extremely frustrated. Thanks.

Resolved Question: video encoding question?

iv'e been converting mastroka files (.mkv) into high definition windows media video files (HD-WMV) so that i can stream them to my 360. I'm using TMPG Encoder to join the video and extracted audio at the end. When i select the audio encoder i notice that there are multiple settings, windows media audio 9.2, windows media audio 9.2 lossless, and windows media audio 10 professional. I'm assuming these are the encoders, but only 9.2 lossless and 10 pro are capable of 6 channel audio. within each setting, there is constant bitrate and variable bitrate, and one pass and two pass. Iv'e been using wma 10 pro 1-pass vbr (constant quality) with no problems. But my output files are huge! i converted a 4.2GiG mkv file into wmv with 5.1, my output was 8.4 gigs! can i use any different setting to receive a smaller file in the end? most movies i receive have ac3 5.1 audio. can u find the maximim bitrate of the audio and set it? Will 9.2 lossless 1 pass vbr give a smaller output file? Is it normal for a file to double in size from .mkv to wmv?

Open Question: How do I solve a playback problem in Adobe Premier Elements 4.0?

I purchased a new Dell Studio 15 laptop at the end of August. I opted to buy Adobe Elements and Photoshop already installed to keep money. I've just now gotten around to playing around with Elements, and the instant capture feature sometimes works, but pretty much always states that my built in webcam is "offline". Also, when I try to play back captured video, I receive and mistake message that Playback Failed: The audio system does not seem to resond. Maybe card does not support full duplex mode. the Device listed is IDT High definition Audio CODEC and the mistake code is FFA-8-00D [80040154]. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

Resolved Question: Am I insecure or is she cheating? How can we change? ?

My wife and I have been together for 13 years (since high school) and have 2 kids together. When we first started dating we were into doing drugs and partying because that’s how both our parents were. After having kids we made the decision to change so they would have a better environment. We moved away from our friends and family and for 10 years have really grown close as a family. Last year she got a new job and made friends with this guy that she goes to lunch with almost daily and sometimes comes home tardy from work because he needs a ride. The problem is he is into the drugs and the partying, and reminds me so much of our past. I brought this up to her and reminded her that we left our old lives because of that nice of people. She told me that would be the end of it, but when she still came home tardy from time to time, my insecurity got the better of me, and I hooked up audio surveillance in our vehicle to find out the truth. Although they are not having sex they like to hang out at lunch, smoke pot and have very personal, sometimes sexual conversations. I know it was wrong for me to invade her privacy, but she is lying to me and I did not want to blindly accuse her without knowing the facts. This is a person I adore very much and I don’t know how to confront the problem without pushing her farther away.

Open Question: Macbook Pro sound distorted in OS X but not while running Vista in boot camp? ?

Hi Everyone, Thanks in advance for helping me out if anyone can think of what could be causing this problem! So this is my problem, and it's a big one. Prepare to be extremely confused because I have never even heard of this problem before and I found no articles that even looked close on any websites. I have a Macbook Pro 15 inch Penryn 2.5ghz intel core 2 duo, 4GB RAM, 250GB HD, (early 2008 model), running OSX Leopard. Since the day I got it (about two months ago) I noticed that the internal speakers were very bad sounding and had absolutely no bass. I assumed this was just because the macbook pro has terrible speakers and every of them were like this. I quickly plugged it into my desktop speakers, and it sounded alright at low-normal volumes on some songs, but I soon began to notice some distortion. I realized that this distortion was happening in every of my music, and it was happening more the higher I turned the volume. I foolishly assumed that my right speaker was blown or damaged (as it seemed to be where most of the distortion was coming from), so I purchased a new 2.1 speaker set. The SAME EXACT thing happened. At this point in time, I had already installed Windows Vista Ultimate on a seperate partition of the difficult steer with boot camp. I used this only to play games, and I never played these at high volume, so I assumed that the sound quality was also bad on the Vista side, but never noticed in much because I only use the Leopard partition to play music and watch movies. Eventually, I tested my macbook pro against a friends macbook pro with the EXACT same specs, playing the EXACT same tune (Arcade flame; Keep the Car Running) on both computers. I tested them both with the internal speaker, as well as three different external speaker sets, and determined easily that my macbook pro was distortiong the sound on both the high and low ends extremely, and my friends was playing it perfectly. From this, I deduced that my macbooks sound card must be damaged or problematic in some way and I would have to receive it repaired. Now the wierd part. I just tried playing the exact same mp3 on the Windows Vista partition of my macbook pro, and there was NO DISTORTION WHATSOEVER. Is this a problem with apples drivers for Leopard in my computer? Why would Vista sound good and OSX sound horrible on a macbook pro? I am so confused, especially because as far as I know there is no way to update or change the audio drivers on the OSX partion, since apple just assumes their drivers work. Any help or input anyone can give would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

Open Question: What will happen if I hook up a 2.1 speaker system to a 5.1 sound card?

I am a musician, so I need a good audio card. The cards I have found are every 5.1 or 7.1. I have limited space where my computer is, so I want to run a 2.1 speaker system. High-end manufacturers like Bose make 3-speaker systems that work with a 5.1 card, but they are way too expensive! I would like to keep my speakers below $100, if possible. Thanks! That makes sense, Colath. I appreciate your input. I didn't want to spend the money on speakers, only to find they won't work with my audio card.

Resolved Question: Are audio cards resource hogs?

I'm trying to piece together a fairly high end stable and preferably free flowing processor workstation. I'm old school and I remember maybe 6 or 7 years ago reading that audio cards tax a computer's processor and ram more than most programs do. Is this still the case? If yes, are there "low resource hungry" audio cards? Can you name a few or give me a brand to check out? Am I better off staying with the on-board audio processor that is included in the motherboard? I'm not a recording musician so I only need audio for playback purposes.

Resolved Question: What should i include on Barack Obama's biography?(could you read what i have)?

i have to do Barack Obama biography for a huge history project and im nice of lost. i have to include family life, education, non political education, political offices/positions held. political philosophy (specially) and reasons for running for office... BUT i dont know if the information i have includes this every.. so could you read what i have and tell me what else to include??? please? Barack Hussein Obama was born on august forth 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Barack Obama Sr. A black Kenyan and Ann Dunham. His parents divorced when he was two and he lived with his mom while his dad went back to Kenya. In 1982 Barack Obama Sr. died in an automobile accident. After the divorce Obama’s mom married Lolo Soetono, and in 1967 they moved to Jakarta Indonesia where Lolo was originally from. Obama attended school there, where classes were only taught in the Indonesian language. When Barack was ten he returned to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents. In 1995 his mom died of ovarian cancer. Obama graduated from the esteemed Punahau Academy with honors in 1979. He was one of the three black students at the school. During those years he became aware of racism and what it meant to be an African American. During his teenage years in high school Obama admitted using alcohol, marijuana and cocaine at the 2008 civil forum he said it was one his greatest moral failures. After high school Obama attended the occidental college for two years and then transferred to Columbia University in New York where he graduated with a degree in political science. On February 1988 Obama entered Harvard law school and was later elected to be the first African American editor of Harvard law review. He then graduated in 1991. He then worked a few years as a layer in Chicago. In 1995 Obama published an autobiography called Dreams of My dad, and won a Grammy for the audio version of the book. Obama taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago law school and was a senior lecturer from 1996 to 2004. In 1996 Barack Obama was elected to be the Illinois state senate as a democrat. Once he was elected he gained support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws. He sponsored a law increasing tax credits for low income workers, negotiated welfare and promoted increased subsides for childcare; He was reelected in 1998 and in 2002. For the first time he decided to run for a seat in the U.S home of Representatives in 2000 but he lost. Later in 2004, he ran again and won the democratic primary with fifty-two percent of the votes. After the nine eleven attacks Obama expressed his opposition of president bush’s will to go on a war with Iraq. During a rally at Chicago’s federal plaza in October 2002 he said “I am not opposed to every wars, I’m opposed to dumb wars”. Many times Obama expressed his feeling about the war in Iraq saying that it was not a good thing, and continually opposed bush’s decision to go to war with Iraq for the wrong reasons. On February Ten 2007 Obama announced his candidacy for president of the United States. Throughout the campaign Obama emphasized the issues of ending the war in Iraq, increasing energy independence and providing universal health care. He later announced that these were his top three priorities if he became president. At the beginning he was running against Hilary Clinton, but on the seventh of June she suspended her campaign and endorsed Obama. Now he is on a tight race against the republican nominee Senator John McCain. please, im just in high school,, i dont need things to be 100% correct. just what seems to be right.. i i know its not perfect, and i do need to do some corrections, and i think its a bit short.. thanks for those who answered this truthfully.

Voting Question: Video Editing Software?

So, I am going to start posting videos on youtube, but I need a HIGH END, VERY PROFESSIONAL video editor for windows vista. Windows movie maker is CRAP, and pinnacle studio won't do the job either, don't say stupid programs like zs4, wax, avid freedv or any other low end free ones please. and i am not okay with multiple programs, just one if you can. I need to be able to: -edit audio and video to the centisecond (5.02, 5.03, 5.04 etc.) windows movie maker only does it in threes (5.03, 5.06, 5.09, 5.12) and isn't good enough. -post backgrounds behind a video so the video image doesn't blow up and pixelate when i post it on myspace/youtube etc. - amazing slide transitions as well does not matter what the finished file format is as long as it isn't any type of flash file (swf, flv, etc.), i have a good enough converter that won't mess up the quality. size of program also doesn't matter, i have over a terabyte to work with not avs either i already have avs, and i like the transitions, but need something with more features

Open Question: What is the best method to to digitize audio cassettes quickly without losing quality?

I have about 3,000 audio cassettes I would like to digitize. Most of them are one of a nice, such as home recordings, and of live events that were not recorded in any other way (so finding them on CDs is not an option). I have been looking into ways to do this project as quickly as possible. I came across theGraf of Newark DigiTiser, which shows a lot of promise. I wonder however, if it would be cheaper to set up a bank of tape decks and connect them to the external sound card I already have, (a PreSonus Firepod). As I understand it, high speed input without losing quality is only possible with high-end (read expensive) sound cards like the Telex Zing, which are able to record at a high frequency. I would appreciate every comments and suggestions. Links: Graf of Newark DigiTiser Telex Zing

Resolved Question: Do I need a receiver that will decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD if I have a Playstation 3?

I have a Playstation 3 and am looking to buy a receiver. I'd like to receive the full audio capabilities from it (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD) and want to make sure that I don't need a receiver that comes with a Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Decoder. I've read a few threads that say every I need to do is purchase a receiver that is HDMI compliant because the Playstation will decode Dolby and DTS internally then send it PCM to the receiver. Am I correct in assuming that I can purchase a less expensive receiver that doesn't have the HD decoders built-in? I've been looking at the Onkyo605 (which has HD decoders), but don't think I need one that high end. Any help would be appreciated!
